1976 Augustine eruption memories
I fished Cook Inlet/Kamishak area from 1973 to 1979. I was in Kamishak Bay when the 1976 eruption happened. Extreme luck - my boat (MV-Helen-B) was not damaged and no one was hurt. Was a terrifying experience though. So was the Earthquake in 1964. I was at Elmendorf AFB then.

Love this site. I love Geology. Thank you for providing it.

Hi William-
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences! You must have had an amazing view of the '76 eruption, despite your adrenalin!
Thank you so much for your positive input-- we really appreciate that. We're glad we can help!
