During recent days, staff at AVO and others have noticed a prominent water vapor plume coming from the summit region of Augustine Volcano. Such activity is normal for Augustine. The vapor plume can be more or less visible depending on atmospheric conditions, such as dew point, humidity, and wind. AVO continues to carefully monitor Augustine, via seismic data, as well as satellite and webcam images. See this image for a good view of a steam plume from Augustine.
