1762-00-001786-00-00Pavlof Sister: 1762 - 1786 Grewingk (1850) writes that promyshlenniks reported Pavlovskii Volcano active from 1762-1786, and that "one of the craters closed up" in 1786. Veniaminov (1840, translated by Lydia T. Black and R.H. Geoghegan, 1984) reports: "Before 1786 the northern, or interior, half burned. In 1786, following an eruption, at the time of a severe earthquake and tremendous thunder, its upper part collapsed; at the same time the crater opened in the southern or shore-ward half, whence smoke is emitted ...
