Description
Volynets and others (1994) describe these submarine peaks, 13-15 miles north of Uliaga, as young volcanic cones, and state that they are superposed on the sediments, and not eroded. Dredge samples of these peaks (V38-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -11, and -12) returned basalt, in addition to probably exotic blocks and fragments of andesite, paleotypal basalt, granite, sediments, and metasediments.
