Description
Volynets and others (1994) describe these submarine peaks, ~30 miles northwest of Amukta, as young volcanic cones, and state that they are superposed on the sediments, and not eroded. Dredge samples of these peaks (V38-15, -16, -17, -18, and -19) returned basalt, in addition to probably exotic blocks and fragments of andesite, basaltic andesite, gneiss, and sedimentary rocks.
