The eruption of Redoubt volcano continues. Seismic and satellite data indicate continued slow growth of a lava dome in the summit crater. Partially clear views of the volcano today show a steam and gas plume, possibly containing minor amounts of ash, rising from the new dome. AVO is aware of one pilot report of sulfur smell northeast of the volcano.

AVO scientists are working in the Drift River valley today examining mudflow deposits from earlier explosive events.

Additional explosive events producing ash clouds, ash fall, and mudflows are possible and can occur with little or no warning. AVO will maintain 24/7 operations in order to quickly detect renewed significant explosive activity and other hazardous phenomena

AVO received no reports of activity at Cleveland during the past 24 hours. Satellite views of the volcano have been cloudy.
