ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY STATUS REPORT
U.S. Geological Survey
Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 1:15 PM AKDT (Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 21:15 UTC)
REDOUBT VOLCANO
(VNUM #313030)
60°29'7" N 152°44'38" W,
Summit Elevation 10197 ft (3108 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
No significant change has been observed at Redoubt in the last 24 hours. Seismicity at the volcano remains slightly above background. Hazy webcam views today show continued steaming from the lava dome and satellite images indicated a weak thermal anomaly associated with the cooling lava dome. The lava dome has not yet stabilized, and the potential for collapse still exists. A dome collapse would likely result in high-level ash production, hot lava block and ash flows, and possible flooding in the Drift River valley.
AVO is monitoring Redoubt's activity 24/7.
CLEVELAND VOLCANO
(VNUM #311240)
52°49'20" N 169°56'42" W,
Summit Elevation 5676 ft (1730 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
AVO has observed no further activity at Cleveland since the small eruption on June 25. Clouds have obscured views of the volcano in recent satellite and web camera images.
