U.S. Geological Survey
Monday, September 21, 2009, 12:14 PM AKDT (Monday, September 21, 2009, 20:14 UTC)
REDOUBT VOLCANO
(VNUM #313030)
60°29'7" N 152°44'38" W,
Summit Elevation 10197 ft (3108 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
No unusual activity has been observed at Redoubt during the past 24 hours. Satellite and web cam views were mostly cloudy today. The likelihood of a dome collapse continues to diminish over time.
In the unlikely event of a major dome collapse, significant ash production, hot block-and-ash flows, and flooding in the Drift River valley could all result.
AVO continuously monitors Redoubt with an alarm system that alerts on-call staff of potential unrest.
SHISHALDIN VOLCANO
(VNUM #311360)
54°45'19" N 163°58'16" W,
Summit Elevation 9373 ft (2857 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
Seismic activity at Shishaldin remains low. Clouds continue to obscure the volcano in satellite and web camera images today. AVO has received no additional observations or information about activity at Shishaldin.
