AVO Image

This WorldView-3 image from July 21, 2019 provides a high-resolution look into the crater at Shishaldin showing incandescence within, in addition to a diffuse steam plume. The RGB composite uses red edge, red, and green to highlight the area of incandescence, which is also associated with a very strong signal in the near-infrared bands. The hot spot is 12 x 16 meters in size and may represent the start of a small lava pond or a pit with hotter material below.
