August 2019 views of the summit crater of Makushin Volcano. Heat from vigorous fumarolic activity is melting depressions, holes, and caves in the glacial ice. Sulfur rich mineral precipitates paint the ground yellow near fumaroles. Pastel earthen tones of altered rock and blue lake water add to the palette of colors.
