Animated GIF of lava flow field growth in the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano over the past 2 months (spanning February 4 to March 31, 2023) captured in satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. The active lava flow is producing two lobes, a large one advancing eastward, pushing into the summit crater ice field (relatively smooth surface on the east side with large, arcuate crevasses near the lava flow), and a smaller one advancing much more slowly to the south.
