SAMPLE INFO : UT825
Sample ID:UT825
Station ID:Gold_Hill_I
Latitude:64.8
Longitude:-147.89997
Datum:NAD83
Sample Type 1:Tephra Fall
Text Description:
Occurs about 6.5 m above the UT819 tephra at this location and 1 m above a thick soliflucted dark silt. The tephra is underlain by 5YR4/2, organic-rich silt with diffuse pseudo-bedding from solifluction and small oxidation nodules. The overlying loess is more compact, 5YR5/2, layered purple silt with oxidation stringers. Discontinuous basal 0.5-cm-thick bed of white tephra (UT826) covered by a 5.5-cm-thick gray tephra (UT825, 2.5Y6/1). Extremely powdery and subhorizontal, except where it has been locally soliflucted. Lower contact, color-contact, and upper contact are very sharp and undulating. Minor oxidation. Not internal structure other than the layering. Locally deformed into pods.
