Text Description: plagioclase from 2008 gabbro. From the 38x35x23 cm block described above. Well developed mineralogical layering w/ "anorthosite" up to 4 cm thick and thicker hb-rich layers. Extremely friable block -- separated b3 into individual crystals with fingertip pressure! There are 4 domains within this sample, fragments of each were handpicked for analysis. (1) 09KCnye012b1 is anorthosite, w plag ~3mm. (2) 09KCnye012b2 is coarse amphibole gabbro w amphibole to 1.5cm, plag to 7mm, and CI ~80. (3) 09KCnye012b3 is moderately coarse gabbro w/ amph to 5mm, plag to 4mm, and CI~50. (01), (02), and (03) are subparallel. (4) 09KCnye012b4 is fine-grained px gabbro References: ![]() |
