Text Description: Mafic portion of a large piece of banded scoria, total initial sample weight 5 kg. 15% light colored bands, 85% dark colored bands. Light bands up to 2 cm thick, hosted in the dark portions. Light bands shear down to sub-mm streaks (smaller than individual phenocrysts), possible sub-macroscopic mingling. The dark portion is 45% gray on the outside of the block and 85% gray in the interior; very similar to 06AUMC005a and 06AUMC007c. References: ![]() |
