SAMPLE INFO : 1796x
Sample ID:1796x
Station ID:47 ABy 103
Latitude:53.93
Longitude:-168.04
Datum:NAD83
Date Sampled:1947-01-01
Sample Type 2:Igneous
Text Description:
Mafic inclusion in the andesite composed of calcic augite, plagioclase, ferroan pargasite, magnetite, biotite, apatite, alkali feldspar and quartz. The amphibole and pyroxene form the major proportion (15 and 16 estimated modal percent respectively) of the inclusion, which is of generally equigranular texture. Titaniferous magnetite is disseminated within the calcic augite and pargasite and at grain boundaries. The amphiboles have light cores and dark brown rims. Biotite, quartz and feldspar appear as anhedral, interstitial grains, and some biotite appears to ba an alteration product of magnetite.
