Text Description:
Top flow in a package of 5-10' thick flows on the north nose of Jaeger Mesa at Site 14. Fine grained, vesicular, diktytaxitic, holocrystalline, intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque and clinopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An39-An45) are up to 1.05 mm, both normal and oscillatory zoning are present, and matrix minerals are included along the rim. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 0.75 mm and often are skeletal. Clinopyroxene? phenocrysts are up to 0.25 mm. Mode: 74.6% matrix, 23.2% plagioclase, 0.7% olivine, 1.5% vesicles.
