Text Description:
At least 5' thick flow that is cut by a dike (94SJP74A) the second flow in the South Pass section. Fine grained, vesicular, hypocrystalline, trachytic, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of pale brown glass, opaque, plagioclase, orthopyroxene and clinopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An38-An58) are up to 2.62 mm and occasionally have minor sieve textured zones or normal zoning. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.75 mm and occasionally have thin clinopyroxene rims. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 0.1 mm and grains can be altered with a rim of small orthopyroxene crystals. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.1 mm.
