Text Description:
Dike cutting through 94SJP50A. The dike is 5’ thick, trending N90E, and is columnar jointed. Fine-grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, weakly pilotaxitic, porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase and red alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An42 - An58) have two populations 3.5-0.15 mm with some sieve textured cores or intermediate zones, and complex zoning; and 0.15-0.05 mm needles. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are 1.0-0.1 mm,. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are 0.7-0.1 mm and twinning is common.
