Text Description:
Flows 15-20’ thick with well developed vesicular/rubbly flow tops. Outcrop weathers into large blocks and plates. Overlies black scree that may be vitrophyre shown by Lowe et al., 1983. Fine grained, vesicular, hypocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of brown glass, opaque, plagioclase, clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An57 - An63) are up to 5.17 mm and occasionally have sieve textured zones, pyroxene inclusions, resorption embayments and/or oscillatory zoning. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 3.0 mm. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 3.5 mm.
