Text Description:
Top flow from a vertical face on the summit of Gutbuster. Several flows can be seen on this face when flying past. Fine to medium grained, holocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix (here up to 0.1 mm) of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase (An45), microlites, orthopyroxene with clinopyroxene rims and clinopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An55 - An64) are up to 6.75 mm and some have normal zoning, and there is occasional oscillatory zoning. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 2.63 mm. 62.6% matrix, 25.9% plagioclase, 0.1% clinopyroxene, 7.8% orthopyroxene, 3.6% vesicles.
