Text Description: At least 3’ thick dike, trending N45°W, that is at the base of the Dome F at Site 4 and then cuts up through the unit nA1. Fine-grained, holocrystalline, weakly pilotaxitic, seriate to glomeroporphyritic, with a matrix of yellow-green alteration, opaque, feldspar and calcite. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An31 - An45) are up to 1.95 mm and some have complex zoning, resorbed rims, sieve textured zones, and clinopyroxene inclusions. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.9 mm and are mostly altered. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.35 mm. References: ![]() |
