Text Description: Sample is from a rubbly flow outcrop on the south-west end of Tanada Lake. Fine grained, holocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of cryptocrystalline material, opaque, feldspar, minor alteration and a high relief mineral. Plagioclase phenocrysts are up to 2.62 mm and some have sieve textured zones, strong normal or oscillatory zoning, and are frequently rounded. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.25 mm. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.35 mm. 99.0% matrix, 0.8% plagioclase, 0.1% opaque, 0.1% alteration. References: ![]() |
