Text Description:
Blocky, rubbly outcrop from the summit of Dome A at Site 2. Fine grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of equigranular feldspar, quartz?, opaque, zircon and altered patches. Plagioclase phenocrysts are up to 2.0 mm. Symplectic intergrowths of feldspar and quartz are up to 0.15 mm. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.4 mm. Zircon phenocrysts are up to 0.2 mm. An altered phase up to 0.95 mm, amphibole? or biotite?, is present.
