The search engine will retrieve those references that fulfill ALL of the search criteria that have been entered. It will not return references that match some of the entered information and not the other information.

The search criteria fields are NOT case sensitive.

Volcano:The search engine will retrieve all volcanoes by default. If you choose specific volcanoes, only photos associated to those volcanoes will be returned.

Year: The search engine will retrieve all years by default. The year represents the calendar year in which the photo was actually taken.

Image Type: The search engine will retrieve all types by default. If you choose a specific image type, only those photos that have been classified as that particular type will be returned.

Caption: Search for text in an image's caption.

Author: Include only one author's last name in the last name input box. If you need to distinguish between two authors with the same last name, enter the author's first name in the first name input box.

Public Use: Show images that are available for public use. Check individual photo use restrictions for details.

Keywords: The search engine will retrieve all keywords by default. Search results based on keywords are dependent upon the photo's associated keywords.

Image ID: Enter an AVO Image ID to go directly to that image.
