Timeline of eruptive events at Bogoslof volcano associated with the formation and destruction of the first known subaerial lava dome emplaced during the 2016-17 eruption. The eruption on June 10 destroyed the lava dome that developed June 5-10 and also appears to have destroyed all remaining parts of the 1992 lava dome. The blocks strewn over the surface on the southwest part of the island are likely all that remains of these two lava domes. COSMOS SkyMed compilation by Dave Schneider, USGS-AVO. Lava dome observations from Kim Angeli, USGS. Image on right provided under the Digital Globe NextView License. Images on left courtesy of the Italian Space Agency.
