Mt. Redoubt summit crater and upper Drift Glacier, February 27, 2009 showing debris- flow deposit produced on 2/26/09. The two fumaroles indicated (F) and melt pit (M) were actively steaming on 2/27/09 when this photograph was taken. The debris-flow deposit was produced by a sudden outflow of water and sediment, probably associated with the failure of an ice dam that released water stored higher up in the crater.
