Lake sediment coring operation with collaborating scientists from Mt. Holyoke College, and Northern Arizona Univeristy using a modified Nesje percussion coring system. PVC tubing is fully filled with lake bottom sediment. Here we are coing Bear Lake, 35 km east of Redoubt vocano, trying to recover a tephra (volcanic ash) record from Cook Inlet Volcanoes
