Images taken during the 2015 field season of the upper portion of the Geyser Bight geothermal area on Umnak Island, Alaska. These images were captured during geochemical sampling by Cindy Werner and Christoph Kern that was funded by the Deep Carbon Observatory. A) Forward looking infrared (FLIR) image of the upper-most geothermal area showing intense fumarolic activity and boiling and near-boiling springs. B) Photo of the same area as in A). The yellow-clad figures are gas geochemists Cindy Werner and Christoph Kern of the Cascades Volcano Observatory sampling gases and waters from the geothermal features.
